Introduction

« HeterochromiA : The Retrospective LP » est mon sixième album en tant que beatmaker indépendant. Et le huitième volet majeur de ma discographie (après « Carpe Diem », « The Golden Mean », « Vae Victis », « Spiritual Unity », « Working Evasion », « Modus Operandi » et le double Best of « Ambivalence »). Entrepris en Août 2021 et finalisé en Novembre 2022, il inclut vingt nouveaux enregistrements dont six medleys (divisés en six catégories distinctes) qui regroupent l’essentiel de mes compositions depuis Mai 2001.

Plusieurs thèmes y sont savamment développés. Notamment par le biais des singles « Honoring A Promise : Ryline’s Tribute » (titre posthume en hommage à Maryline), « HeterochromiA : The Masterpiece » (production électro-funk au groove endiablé), « Ominous » (contre-offensive cinglante et survoltée destinée aux haters), « Father’s Day : A Curse Of Torment » (storytelling traitant de façon complexe les rapports père / fils), « Monia : Thank U Mom » (réorchestration de la mélodieuse « Love Story », dédiée à ma mère) et « The Pyre Of Vanity » (allégorie incisive sous forme de satire sociale sur le cyberharcèlement et ses conséquences). L’objectif premier de cet ultime chapitre : que l’auditeur puisse éprouver différentes émotions et vivre l’expérience comme une catharsis.

En résumé, « HeterochromiA : The Retrospective LP » est une vision emblématique de mon cheminement en milieu urbain. Un concept original à dimension laborieuse et aux multiples perspectives dont les ambiances jouées et samplées varient entre Soul, Funk, Acid Jazz, Jungle, House, Metal, musique ethnique, acoustique ou au piano… Soit l’ensemble des courants m’ayant influencé sur plus de quatre décennies et que j’ai réexploré afin d’aboutir à une œuvre de qualité, on ne peut plus précise et singulière. Une des créations dont je suis particulièrement fier et que je dédie surtout à Maryline Dalle AKA Ryline (Paix à son âme) sans qui notre site, MD•DW Ryline Art, n’aurait jamais vu le jour.

HeterochromiA: The Retrospective LP is my sixth album as an independent beatmaker, and the eighth major chapter in my discography (after Carpe Diem, The Golden Mean, Vae Victis, Spiritual Unity, Working Evasion, Modus Operandi and the double best-of Ambivalence). Begun in August 2021 and completed in November 2022, it includes twenty new recordings, six of which are medleys (divided into six clear categories) which cover my most important compositions since May 2001.

It cleverly develops several themes. This can be seen in the singles Honoring A Promise: Ryline’s Tribute (a posthumous tribute to Maryline), HeterochromiA: The Masterpiece (an electro-funk production with a frenetic groove), Ominous (a crazy, supercharged counter-offensive addressing haters), Father’s Day: A Curse Of Torment (a complex way of telling the story of father/son relations), Monia: Thank U Mom (a reorchestration of the melodious Love Story, dedicated to my mother) and The Pyre Of Vanity (an incisive allegory in the form of social satire about cyberbullying and its consequences). The main goal of this latest chapter is for the listener to be able to feel a range of emotions and live this experience as a catharsis.

To sum up, HeterochromiA: The Retrospective LP is a symbolic vision of my journey in an urban environment. An original concept with a laborious side to it and with multiple perspectives, in which the ambiances played and sampled vary between Soul, Funk, Acid Jazz, Jungle, House, Metal, ethnic music, acoustic and piano etc. In fact, all the genres that have influenced me over more than four decades, and which I have revisited in order to create a work of quality and of the utmost precision and singularity. One of the creations of which I am particularly proud, I dedicate first and foremost to Maryline Dalle AKA Ryline (may her soul rest in peace) without whom our website, MD•DW Ryline Art, would never have seen the light of day.
